Pigments & Color Expertise — 7-minute read
Every client is unique – and so are their skin characteristics, preferences, and treatment goals. While ready-made pigments offer ease and convenience, base pigments provide permanent make up artists with the flexibility to fine-tune existing colors or create custom blends tailored to individual needs.
As the foundation of the Swiss Color pigment range, each base pigment contains a single, pure colorant, allowing for precise color customization.
Our Organic Base Pigments
Organic pigments are carbon-based colorants known for their high color intensity and brightness. In the Swiss Color range, they are mainly used to adjust existing shades, correct unwanted undertones, and create customized pigment mixtures.
- Yellow: Used to lighten brow shades and neutralize purple or cool undertones in lips and brows
- Orange: Adds warmth to lip, brow, and areola pigments, as well as helps correct unwanted blue-toned pigmentation
- Red: Creates vibrant lip shades and can be used in small amounts to modify skin, brow, and areola pigments
Our Inorganic Base Pigments
Inorganic pigments are known for their high stability and natural-looking results. They are often used to soften color mixtures, improve longevity, and create subtle, harmonious shades.
- White: Lightens pigment mixtures and creates softer, powdery results, especially in lip treatments
- Gold: Adds warm, honey-blonde tones to brows and can be used to create natural-looking lip, areola, and camouflage shades
- Terra: Warm terracotta shade that works well in lip, brow, areola, and camouflage pigment mixtures
- Amarone: Cool, wine-red pigment for deeper lip shades and subtle warmth in brow treatments
- Black: Darkens brow pigments and creates intense results, especially for Fitzpatrick skin types V and VI
Important Tip
When working with base pigments, proper preparation is just as important as the color selection itself. The Swiss Color Pigment Shaker ensures a uniform pigment flow by evenly distributing the particles throughout the carrier liquid, resulting in more consistent results.
